Enhance your success abroad with this simple yet effective tool!

If you are an international nurse you may experience the feeling of being left behind… …But here the solution šŸ‘‡

In case you didn’t know, I’m currently in the Florence Nightingale Foundation Academy’s ‘Internationally Educated Nurses and Midwives Leadership Program’. I’m currently in the lesson on self-awareness.

We are learning Gibb’s Reflection Cycle, which I have know and I have used for a long time since studying Coaching and Transformational Coaching Techniques.

They asked for a thought on Gibb’s Reflection cycle.

I would like to share my thoughts with you:

“I am here in this program because of my journaling.

I believe self-awareness and self-improvement are prerequisites to success.

My goal is to improve myself so I can benefit myself and the people I assist.

Vanity metrics don’t matter to me; what matters is being authentic and honest with myself, so that I can be authentic and honest with others, and contribute to nursing.

Patients benefit from our work, but even more important is that we benefit from it, so that they can receive better care.

With Gibb’s tool, I now have the habit of writing my diary to decompress and reflect on my journey without even following the prompts anymore; the writing/reflection just happens naturally and fluently.

I feel better, more empowered, and more confident. This is highly recommended not only for the purposes of your career abroad, but also for your own benefit, for your personal life and relationships! šŸ‘Œ”

For self-discovery, self-awareness, and self-improvement, journaling is essential!

Reflect on your journey if you want to be successful in life, or in other words, if you want to be happy and content with your life and career!

Regardless of where you came from, if you work on yourself, you can achieve extraordinary things and reach places you never dreamed possible.

Consider journaling and the Gibbs Reflective Cycle!

As a matter of fact, the first step to success abroad, according to my Successful Expat Nurse Accelerator program, is to buy a notebook and a pen for journaling your experiences abroad. šŸ˜€

Here is your tool for Success

The Gibbs Reflective Cycle consists of six stages, each prompting a specific set of questions:

1. Description:

  • What happened?
  • When did it happen?
  • Where did it happen?
  • Who else was involved (who were there)?

2. Feelings:

  • What were you thinking and feeling?

3. Evaluation:

  • What was good or bad about the experience?
  • What did you learn from it?

4. Analysis:

  • What sense can you make of the situation?
  • What was your role in the event?

5. Conclusion:

  • What else could you have done?
  • What would you do differently next time?

6. Action Plan:

  • What will you do next time?
  • How can you apply what you have learned?

Using these questions, you can reflect on your experiences and enhance your professional development. Remember that the more you work on yourself, the more you will grow… But if you remain superficial in your reflection, nothing will happen… As a result, whether or not the tool works depends on you.

Happy journaling! šŸ˜€šŸ–
