Throughout my career coaching career in nursing, I have seen its transformative power. In today’s blog, I introduce a revolutionary nursing theory I developed based on years of research, my own experience, and my deep understanding of the evolution of nurses as they adapt to our changing healthcare environment.
A Personal Journey
My experience as an international nurse has provided me with firsthand insight into how career coaching can unlock potential and transform professional identities. As a nurse who has worked in multiple healthcare systems from Italy to the UK, from emergency care to clinical research, I have gained valuable insights into how nurses can thrive in our rapidly evolving profession.
The Awakened Nurse Theory Ⓒ: A New Paradigm
It is the first time in healthcare history that a groundbreaking theoretical framework combines artificial intelligence with human compassion, and where environmental consciousness intersects with patient care. By adopting The Awakened Nurse Theory Ⓒ, nurses are not passive observers of technological change, but active architects of health care’s future.
In my Nursing Theory I identify Four Foundational Pillars:
- Identity Transformation. In an AI-enhanced healthcare system, nurses can recognize their irreplaceable value through deep self-awareness and professional identity evolution.
- Human-Centered Capabilities. An integral part of this pillar is the development of emotional intelligence, cultural competence, and interpersonal abilities, which artificial intelligence cannot replicate.
- Environmental Consciousness. Affirming the role we play in sustainable healthcare delivery by applying Florence Nightingale’s environmental theory to modern practice.
- Digital Evolution. By embracing artificial intelligence as a powerful tool for enhancing rather than replacing, nurses can serve as technological leaders, Innovators and Entrepreneurs.
In this Nursing Theory, Career Coaching is essential to facilitating the transformation journey that connects and blends all those Pillars and allows the nurse to blossom to their highest success identity and enable nursing to evolve.
The theory outlines three distinct phases of the career coaching method:
• The Awakening Phase: Where nurses discover their unique potential and begin to see themselves as change agents
• The Transformation Phase: Development of core competencies and integration of new mindsets
• The Evolution Phase: Providing healthcare with a holistic perspective, confidence, and technological expertise
Future Vision
In an era when AI and environmental challenges demand conscious adaptation and growth, this theory represents more than an academic framework. In order to transform healthcare, we must create resilient, adaptable, and empowered nurses who can redefine a united identity while maintaining the essence of human care.
In order to achieve this transformation, Career Coaching is a necessity.
Career Coaching provides nurses with guidance and support to identify their strengths and areas for growth. It helps them set clear professional goals and develop strategies to achieve them. Additionally, it offers personalized feedback and mentorship, which can enhance their confidence and competence in their roles.
